MHPA Policy Statement on Quality
MHPA supports the CHIP Quality Measurement Program authorized by CHIPRA and the Adult Quality Measurement Program authorized by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. MHPA also believes that data collected by CMS and states should include both the fee-for-service and managed care populations.

MHPA Submits Comments on Initial Core Set of Adult Quality MeasuresOn March 1, 2011, MHPA submitted comments on the initial core set of adult quality measures for Medicaid. MHPA Submits Comments on Children's Healthcare Quality
August 30, 2010 - In response to the Federal Register notice calling for recommended changes to improve the quality of care provided to children under Medicaid and CHIP, MHPA submitted comments recommending that CMS support a children's health quality measure development process that takes into account scientific soundness, feasibility, appropriateness, length of enrollment and reporting burden for states, health care providers and health plans; requires states to use measures as specified; and requires states to report on their managed care and fee-for-service Medicaid and CHIP populations. MHPA Submits Final Comments on CHIPRA Quality MeasuresOn March 30, 2010, MHPA submitted final comments on the proposed core measures for the inital core set of children's health care quality measures. MHPA identified which measures should be included, which should be excluded, and which need further development and research.  MHPA also listed considerations for states in their quality reporting efforts.  Click here to read the full letter.

MHPA Provides Preliminary Comments on CHIPRA Quality MeasuresOn December 29, 2010, MHPA sent a letter to CMS supporting efforts to improve quality reporting for CHIP, and recommending that CMS only include measures that have been specified, tested, and reported.  MHPA also recommended that CMS provide more guidance to states on the reporting expectations.  Click here to read the full letter
