|Health Exchanges Open for Business|
Health insurance exchanges will draw an estimated 24 million customers to the individual market by 2023 and represent a fundamental change in the insurance industry from wholesale to retail. The courtship of newly insured Americans begins with enrollment in new online insurance exchanges as of October 1, 2013. New survey research published by PwC’s Health Research Institute (HRI) found that most health insurers are entering the exchange market -- although they face significant challenges and new competition to attract and retain members. HRI looked at what’s at stake for hospitals, physicians and other providers in enrolling new members and the challenges ahead for insurers and other new market participants, many of whom will be entering the individual insurance market for the first time. Join Sandi Hunt, Principal in PwC's Health Industry Advisory practice and Caitlin Sweany, Senior Manager in PwC's Health Research Institute as they discuss the plans, progress and pain points associated with the new state insurance exchanges.
Speakers: Sandi Hunt, Principal, PwC U.S. Health Industries, lead advisor to states on insurance reform and Caitlin Sweany, Senior Manager, PwC's Health Research Institute
